Flyer of the Month
January is National Blood Donor Month
Donated blood is crucial for the survival of many people. Blood needed to help patients can only come from a donor, so the more blood given, the more blood a patient can recieve.
There are around eight main blood types. Most of these blood types can only accept the same blood type. These blood types are divided into four groups: A, B, AB and O. In these groups there is a positive and negative blood type. O - is the universal blood donor, meaning all blood types can accept their blood. AB+ is the universal plasma donor and AB- is the rarest blood type. Because some blood types are rarer than others, and some blood types can be used on most people, donating blood, especially if you have a rarer blood type, could save a person's life
